On April 19-21, 2021, IFFO's China Market Analyst, Henry Qu, made a trip to Rongcheng and Qingdao cities under Shandong province to understand China’s marine ingredients supply chain. Visits were made to local fishmeal producers, feed mills and traders.

Shandong province is a stronghold of fishmeal production in China. Rongcheng is a core zone there. Most of the fishmeal production plants in Shandong are located in Rongcheng.

Rongcheng Blue Ocean Biotech is one of the representative fishmeal producers and welcomed the visit. This is not the first time that IFFO went there. The last time happened in 2019. They shared the market position of fishmeal and feed as well as exchanged opinion with the analyst about the market.

New Hope Liuhe Co., Ltd. is a publicly traded company listed in China, engaging in feed production and animal farming. The company is headquartered in Beijing and Qingdao is a core base for business. The quality control center was visited there. It is the first time for the center to host a visit by IFFO. They are interested in understanding the global marine ingredient situation and the analyst introduces IFFO as well as the basic landscape of marine ingredients in the world.

From this trip, a better and refreshed understanding of the market in China is achieved. Through face-to-face communications, great relationships have been established with the participants in the supply chain. The trip brought IFFO a wider publicity in China.
