At AquaFarm 2019, Italy, IFFO presents Fishmeal and Fish Oil as essential components of aquafeeds
Neil Auchterlonie represented IFFO at the AquaFarm 2019 conference in Pordenone, Italy. AquaFarm is an annual international aquaculture conference and trade show, primarily targeted at the Mediterranean aquaculture industry.
Neil provided a presentation to the audience on Fishmeal and Fish Oil as Essential Components of Aquafeeds, which may be accessed here. Neil’s was the sole presentation in a session on fish feed and fish quality, moderated by Rebecca Sherratt (Production Editor, International Aquafeed), and containing a round table of: Robert Tillner (Production Manager, Aller Aqua), Fabio Brambilla, (Fish Nutritionist, Naturalleva), Umberto Luzzana (Marketing Director, Skretting), and Andrea di Biase (Product Manager Aqua, Veronesi).
Many interesting questions made for a stimulating session, and with an audience that reflects both the industry and academia there were a range of technical and industry-applied questions to keep everyone interested. In the region the Mediterranean sea bass and sea bream industries are the principal users of FMFO in aquafeed, and although this adds a slightly different but nonetheless interesting angle to the discussion, the main messages are the same – FMFO are the practical means of supplying the required nutrition to farmed fish.
