“The Future of Food: Novel foods” discussed at the Codex meeting

By kind invitation received via the FAO in Rome, Neil Auchterlonie attended and presented at the 42nd Meeting of the Codex Alimentarius in Geneva, on the 11th July 2019.  The presentation was provided during a side event hosted by the Codex, set to address “The Future of Food: Novel foods”.  IFFO works very closely with the FAO, as the IFFO Members will know, and the opportunity to attend and present at a Codex Meeting was an excellent chance to gain some exposure to IFFO’s work across the Codex Membership.  It followed from a recent invitation to provide some text for one of the Codex brochures describing how the Codex work is important to IFFO, accessible here.

Neil presented during a panel discussion that included presentations by representatives from the FAO, the Office for Economic Co-operation and Development, the International Union of Food Science and Technology, and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture.  The presentation was provided in oral format (presenters were specifically directed not to use slides).  For those who may be interested in reading a transcript of Neil’s presentation, it may be found attached at the bottom of the page.  The session was broadcast live via webinar, and it provided a platform to bring further opportunities for aquatic protein to the audience’s attention.
