IFFO has two main sections, namely Commercial and Technical sections.
The Commercial Section of IFFO has the objective of making available to Members elements of information relevant to the markets for oil and meal which allows Members to adopt their strategies of marketing in accordance with the realities of the marketplace.
The objective of the Technical Section of IFFO is to allow Members to exchange information on all matters of a scientific and technical nature concerning fishmeal and fish oil. This section undertakes practical research programmes mainly in collaboration with internationally recognised institutes, and evaluates technical production and suitable quality control techniques. It examines the development of the markets from the point of view of animal and human nutrition and responds to requests from Members for particular advice on scientific and technical questions. It promotes the benefits of fishmeal and fish oil and advises on technical issues related to trade barriers.
